Each recording project and artist is unique and has a unique set of variables, and that’s a big part of what makes it so exciting for us. Methods that were successful for one project may not necessarily work for the next. We recommend contacting us about your upcoming recording so that we can assist you in the planning and scheduling of your project.
Production
[pruh-duhk-shuh n]
Where the vision and goals are defined.
Just as all great movies have a director, all great records have a producer: someone that casts a vision for the project, and oversees it from beginning to end, making it a reality. Sometimes the artists themselves serve as their own producers, but usually, a more experienced and unbiased person in that role will better serve the project.
Tracking
[trak-ing n]
Where the performances are captured.
The key for great tracking is in obtaining both excellent sounds and excellent performances. Both Studio A and B are equipped for tracking with Pro Tools HDX state of the art recording systems and are operated by our experienced and knowledgeable staff.
Editing
[ed-it-ing n]
Where the recorded performances are refined.
During editing, the recording performances are enhanced qualitatively in respect to pitch, rhythm, and other musical nuances. Taking place primarily in our C Room, the editing process has the capacity to turn a good performance into a great one (or make a great performance even better). The extent of editing required may vary greatly from project to project, often depending on the musical style and preference.
Mixing
[miks-ing n]
Where all the ingredients are blended together.
Arguably the most important step, this is where the project takes on its final sonic form, as the many elements from recording, refined by editing, are processed and combined together to create the final “mix.”
Mastering
[mas-ter-ing n]
Where the mixes are ushered into the real world.
The last step in the recording process, mastering is where the final stereo mixes are processed to achieve optimum sonic impact, as well as volume and sonic continuity from one song to the next. Industry standard volume and resolution specifications for music delivery are also implemented during the mastering process.
